About Us

Association For Social Health Action

We aim to empower the poor with the help of skill development, water and agriculture awareness sessions, and health initiatives to make their lives fulfilling and better.

Association for social health action (ASHA) Society is a nonprofit organization established in 2021 at Thenkasi (D), Tamilnadu. We work for the welfare and development of poor people in rural and urban areas of Kuruvikulam BlockWe believe in the vast, untapped potential of rural communities and the unstoppable power of the people that live there. With investments in water, agriculture, skills, women, and health. We enable ‘livelihoods’ as a pathway to unleashing that potential.

ASHA works to empower children, young people, and women, especially those from marginalized social groups, to take control of their own health, that of their families, and communities.



Programs

Health Awareness Campaigns in Tiruvengadam Villages

Our NGO conducted health awareness programs in the villages surrounding Tiruvengadam, focusing on key topics like COVID-19 prevention, mother and child care during the pandemic, and COVID awareness for school-going children. Mrs. Stella, a nurse from a local private hospital, led these sessions. We also addressed exam stress reduction among students, promoting overall health and well-being in the community.

Preventing School Dropouts in Sellapatti Village

Our NGO has taken steps to prevent school dropouts in Sellapatti village, successfully benefiting around 34 children through this initiative. By providing support and guidance, we aim to keep children in school and ensure they continue their education. This program is helping to secure a brighter future for the children in the community.

Rainwater Harvesting in Tenkasi Villages

Our NGO is actively involved in implementing rainwater harvesting projects in the villages of Tenkasi District. These initiatives aim to conserve water and promote sustainable water management practices. By capturing and storing rainwater, we help improve water availability and support the local communities in addressing water scarcity challenges.

Fund Mobilization and Animal Welfare Project Implementation

On July 7th, we participated in a Nanbargal Helping Hands Trust meeting in Madurai to mobilize funds for our organization. On August 5th, we attended another meeting in Ramanathapuram focused on fund allocation. Additionally, we visited to implement an Animal Welfare project, supported by the National Uyir Foundation of India, Ooty.

Omega Home for Homeless Project

On March 4, 2024, an ID collection process was undertaken from the beneficiaries of the Omega Home for the Homeless project. This initiative likely aimed to gather necessary identification documents from the individuals participating in or benefiting from the project, ensuring accurate record-keeping and facilitating the smooth implementation of support services for the homeless community. The process reflects a commitment to organized and responsible project management in addressing homelessness and providing essential assistance to those in need.

Signing of MoU

On February 13, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at TMSS Hall, Trichy, between Uyir Neethar Nalladakka Seva Sangam, National Uyir Foundation of India, and Ambiha Charitable Trust. The collaborative agreement outlines proposed projects in the areas of Old-age homes and education. Anticipating the support, the funder is expected to release funds soon, enabling the organizations to initiate and execute these impactful projects for the benefit of the community.

Free Eye Camp

On September 9, 2023, a Free Eye Camp was conducted at Union Primary School, Thiruvengadam, organized collaboratively by Tenkasi District Society for Prevention of Blindness, Association for Social Health Action, and Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli. The event successfully screened the eyes of nearly 200 patients, with 50 individuals identified for cataract surgery, all provided free of cost. As a result of the surgeries, all 50 patients experienced significant improvement in their vision, reflecting the impactful collaboration between organizations to address eye health and enhance the well-being of the community.

Yoga & Naturopathy Centre

On 12th Feb 2023, we started Yoga & Naturopathy Centre at Kovilpatti Block, Tenkasi. It envisages harnessing the inner healing power of the human body by incorporating the principles of Panch-Mahabhoot or the five elements of nature. This unique treatment methodology is completely natural with no side effects and aims to achieve the holistic well-being of individuals so that they can enjoy balanced physical, mental, and emotional health.

Entrepreneur Development Awareness Program

On February 11th and 12th, we participated in a two-day entrepreneur development awareness Program for NGOs at SKT Naturopathy and Yoga Clinic, Paoorchatram, Tenkashi. This program was initiated by Bharathidasan University Trichy, INYGMA, and TSRO.

Environmental Awareness Session

We have been actively involved with schools and individuals in raising awareness about solid waste management and executing projects for solid waste management by adopting various techniques of reducing, recycling, and safe disposal of waste. A total of 53 men and 47 women participated in this initiative.
